MCM 4: Construction Site
Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plan (SWP3): Our stormwater department is responsible for reviewing plans and construction inspections of Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plans (SWP3s) for new subdivision and site developments in the Phase II area. This program is designed to limit erosion and storm water runoff from construction sites and keep Lucas County in compliance with the NPDES Phase II regulations
Construction activities disturbing one or more acres of total land, or will disturb less than one acre of land but are part of a larger common plan of development or sale that will ultimately disturb one or more acres of land must submit a SWP3 for approval by the Lucas County Engineer’s Office. The SWP3 must be submitted with the following completed documentation and a digital copy of all documents: |
Lucas County also requires that the site contractor meet with site plan reviewers for a SWP3 Review pre-construction meeting five days prior to beginning construction. This meeting can be scheduled by calling the stormwater department at 419-213-2860 or emailing Matt McFadden at [email protected]
Inspection Requirements:
A minimum of five (5) days prior to commencing, clearing or demolition work, the Stormwater Department shall be contacted at (419) 213-2860 to ensure proper sediment and erosion control practices are in place before work begins.
Once approval of the SWP3 has been granted, construction may commence subject to other required zoning, building or other applicable permit approvals. Sites will be inspected by the Lucas County Engineer’s Office at a minimum on a monthly basis until the site has been permanently seeded and stabilized.
