Established by the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law (BIL), this new federal program allocates $5 billion over 5 years from 2022-2026 to fund regional, local, and tribal initiatives through grants to prevent roadway deaths and serious injuries.
In February 2023, the Lucas County Engineer’s Office was selected, in partnership with Wood, Ottawa and Sandusky counties, as one of 510 recipients nationwide for a $400,000 grant as part of the new federal Safe Streets and Roads for All Program (SS4A). This grant will allow for all agencies involved to study and develop an Action plan with projects that if implemented, would greatly improve safety, efficiency and equity in their areas.
