Project Summary
The Lucas County Engineer’s Office, in partnership with the Ohio Department of Transportation, proposes the construction of a modern roundabout at the intersection of Monclova Road and Wilkins Road in Swanton Township.
The scope of work includes pavement reconstruction and widening, drainage improvements, earthwork and swale grading, utility adjustments, concrete pavement and curbing, sidewalk, curb ramps, traffic signing, pavement markings, erosion control, landscaping, lighting, maintenance of traffic and other related work.
Construction is scheduled to begin in June 2026 and be completed by November 2026. The proposed work will require closure of the intersection for 45 days. Detour information will be posted in advance of the closure.
A portion of the proposed construction activities at the intersection of Monclova Road and Wilkins Road will take place within Oak Openings Preserve. This resource is designated as a public recreational property and is afforded protection under federal law. As such, measures to minimize harm will be implemented and advanced public notice will be given to this recreational property.
